Efficient Planet Review – Does It Really Work?
Posted by Tim McDonald on October 29th, 2009 filed in Global Warming
Summary
Efficient Planet is not just one energy guide, it’s three! With 51 pages on how to make your wind power, 71 pages on building a solar panel system, and another 50 pages on saving power at home, this guide is a complete set of instructions and advice. But, where it falls short of its rival, Earth4Energy is that it has no video tutorials.
Likes
1 – Complete step-by-step plans:
Because Efficient Planet is packed with so much information (over 175 pages), it is great value for money at only $49.97. Not to mention how easy the step-by-step plans are to follow.
2 – Additional free gifts
The Efficient Planet e-book comes with a number of useful free bonuses. This includes a 50 page guide on easy ways to reduce your power bill (valued at $49.97); and multimedia interviews with successful homeowners that have made their own home solar and wind power systems.
All customers also get a free copy of “Project Wealthy” – a 12-part home-study course on running your own home business efficiently; and some “undisclosed gifts”
3 – Solid Advice:
A nice feature of the guide, is that it is broken up into 3 parts:
The first guide speaks solely on solar power, with a set of instructions on how to make your solar electric system at home. It also contains information on other solar power options, such as solar air and water heating, and solar roofing.
The second volume focuses on wind power and how to build a home wind turbine. It also exposes 10 common myths about wind power, by giving you the cold, hard facts.
The third book explains a variety of clever ways to become more energy efficient without sacrificing your quality of living. Although most of the tips we already knew, some of them we didn’t. But it really rounded off the whole Efficient Planet package, and helped it achieve it purpose of showing you how to save power and money at home.
Why it is not the best guide:
1: Lack of video instructions
Just when we were beginning to like the Efficient Planet guide, it fell short of Earth4Energy by not providing video instruction. Many of us struggle to simply read instruction, see a few a diagrams, and then be able to build a working solar or wind power system. We need to see it being built in real-time. So video would have been very helpful.
2: Just another DIY energy guide
The Efficient Planet instructions seem very similar to what you get in other diy energy guides. But since the plans actually work, I guess it does not make any them any worse than the other guides. Furthermore, this guide is great value for money with all the complementary gifts you get with it. And that is why I preferred it to Homemade Energy or Homemade Power Plant.
Conclusion:
Efficient Planet provides some of the most complete, and useful step-by-step instructions on making your own renewable energy and saving power at home. Yes, you will eventually build a working solar and wind power system with the plans, but it will take you a little longer than if you used the Earth4Energy guide (which has free video instruction). The free extras make it well worth the $49.97 price, so it comes in 2nd place.
