Filtered Water Is Good for You

You arrive home after a hard day at work tired, hot and thirsty. The first thing you do is get a glass from the cupboard, turn on the tap and fill it up. Seemingly clean water fills your glass and you put it to your lips and gulp the thirst-quenching poison. That’s right, poison. Of course it won’t kill you in a day or a week or even a year, but water that is contaminated and not treated through a filtered water system becomes increasingly toxic to our bodies.
The use of water filtration systems prevents toxic substances such as cysts, bacteria and chlorine from entering the body or reproducing inside the body; thus reducing the risk of becoming ill from contaminants. The microorganisms and other pathogens that cause waterborne infections are kept to a minimum.
Some home filters have solid yet permeable blocks that are made from carbon. The carbon element selectively clears some of the toxic substances like bacteria that are found in drinking water. The carbon block keeps the natural pH of water and does not filter useful minerals that are required in healthy water. Water filters have even been medically certified in reducing the chances of cancers of the colon, bladder and rectum. This is because the byproduct of chlorine that is commonly used to treat water is a known carcinogen.
A popular home style of filter is the model that attaches to the faucet. It is affixed to the faucets of the home and filters all water as it is dispensed. This is an extremely handy model and helps ensure that the water you drink and cook with is filtered. However, the kitchen isn’t the only place where you will want pure water in your home. Filtered water systems are available for the bathroom, and anywhere brushing your teeth or using the shower could expose you to unfiltered and contaminated water.
Filtering water will typically get rid of most of its impurities, and tap water is especially susceptible to impurities. The organisms, minerals and chemicals found in water can be toxic to humans over time and should be removed. So too should the water that is used in irrigation, swimming pools and aquariums be filtered for safety. Of course it should be noted that not all impurities can be completely removed from filtered water. It is important to have a multi-stage filter with a wide surface area that catches as much sediment as possible while allowing the water to pass through.
