The January 1, 2010 Deadline For R410a Production Of Air Conditioning And Refrigeration Equipment Is Upon Us!

The January 1, 2010 deadline for R410a production of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Equipment is upon us!

The long anticipated mandatory deadline for R410a is upon us. As of January 1, 2010, manufacturers can no longer produce equipment using R22 refrigerant Freon. This is a well planned for event which has produced varying opinions. Equipment using R410a refrigerant Freon has been in use for over 10 years, with Carrier being the leader in the residential equipment sector.

Ozone depleting substances including chlorine containing refrigerants have been delivering a beating to the Earth’s Ozone Layer for a long time. Ozone depleting substances have caused widespread damage to the ozone layer and, have even caused a hole in layer over the South Pole. In recent years, many countries have signed numerous pacts to reduce and phase out the use of environmentally unfriendly refrigerants.

Refrigerants which contain chlorine as part of the chemical makeup are one of the leading causes of global warming and ozone depletion. R22 is a HCFC refrigerant which contains chlorine and therefore is damaging to the environment.

Much of the refrigeration and air conditioning equipment in use today utilizes the R22 refrigerant. With the phase-out in progress now, more and more manufacturers have ceased production of compatible parts and materials. It is inevitable that eventually, replacement refrigerant and parts will become unobtainable.

The Replacement Refrigerant R410a

R410a is fast becoming the most widely used refrigerant for all new makes and models of air condition. The reason being is that R410a is a HFC which does not contain chlorine as part of its chemical makeup. The new R410a doesn’t cause damage to the ozone layer.

Some of the benefits of R410 includes higher efficiencies and extended warranty periods. The atomic structure of R410 enables higher energy transfer leading to increased energy efficient air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. Manufacturers have begun offering up to 10 year parts warranty on equipment when replacing condenser and evaporator coils at the same time. However, the replacement has one drawback, spe

cial procedures have to be taken in the installation of R410 equipment. To use the existing copper lines, technicians need to either flush or blow line set to remove any remaining refrigerant oils.

When you air conditioning installation is beyond repair, we recommend upgrading to a newer system which utilizes the ozone friendly R410a Freon. Contribute to the environment and use R410a in all your future air conditioning installations

Climate Change: Causes, Effects, and SolutionsClimate Change: Causes, Effects, and SolutionsHuman-induced climate change is a serious concern, drawing increasing attention from the media, policy makers and citizens around the world. This comprehensive and thought-provoking volume explains in easily understandable language the potential effects of climate change on our planet and our lives.

Climate Change: Causes, Effects and Solutions examines the latest scientific findings without any advanced technical knowledge. It goes beyond a description of changes in the physical environment to consider the broader issues of ecological, economic and human effects of climate change.

The book explains:

  • the causes and effects of climate change from a natural and human environment perspective.
  • mitigation options and policies that could reduce the impacts of climate change.
  • global impacts -  with case studies are taken from North America, Europe, Australasia and elsewhere.

Essential reading for undergraduates and general readers who want to heighten their knowledge and understanding of this important problem.

Global Warming: Causes, Effects, and the FutureGlobal Warming: Causes, Effects, and the Future

Planet Earth is warming faster now than at any other time in the past 1,000 years, and global warming may be the greatest threat to ever face humanity. Counteracting it is our greatest challenge.

Mark Maslin explains what global warming is and presents incontrovertible evidence that it is really happening. He examines the impact that climate change will have on health, agriculture, water resources, coastal regions, forests, and wildlife. He also looks at the efforts being made to counteract the effects of global warming and the ways in which we can adapt.

Now "Time" explores the science of global warming in an illuminating, beautifully illustrated book that ranges from polar ice caps to equatorial rainforests. Here are the scientists who are working to measure and counter the warming trend; here are the world's most endangered habitats and creatures; here are various scenarios for the future. Separating truth from fantasy, "Time" brings a cool eye to today's hottest issue.
