Rule 1 – Go To The Source

If you are recording vocals make sure the mix in the headphones has a solid pitch reference. You can also cheat by playing the vocal line on a keyboard and having the singer sing along to the notes. Yes it’s a cheat, but after you delete the guide track no one will ever know.
