How not to feel helpless about the future?

Hello, highschool sophomore here. Global Warming has hit me particularly close to home recently, with it being 70 degrees Fahrenheit in the middle of January, a time when it has always been in the low 40’s. It seems like the world is on a rapid decline, with Australia’s fires and the flooding in Florida.

I don’t want this to be my mid-life crisis, I’ve already had to fear for my life in my schools. I want to get out of highschool and to have a life ahead of me, not to die at 30 because of something that I cannot possibly stop.

I suppose, this is where my question(s) comes in. How should I live the rest of my life so I don’t just feel like everything was in vain? Will the Earth we all love ever be the same again? Should I just live hard and die young? How long do we really have until the famine, drought, disease, etc actually begin, or has it already? Is there anyway to slow this?

I’m sorry if this is not the correct subreddit for this, and my apologies if it doesn’t not fit the content here. I just needed to get my thoughts out to a crowd who doesn’t deny that our world is changing.
